Gramma Mora’s
Food with a story
Food is made to bring families together.
Even though traditional Mexican food was hard to acquire in Buffalo Mercedes did her best to find the ingredients she needed to prepare dishes for her family. Mercedes wanted to pioneer one of the first Mexican restaurants in Buffalo so in 1980 Mercedes and her son Charles opened Gramma Mora's Mexican Restaurant on Niagara Street near Hertel Avenue. The restaurant was named after Charles' grandmother and Mercedes' mother, Juliana Mora.
In 1987 the business expanded to accommodate the ever growing number of customers and in 1994 Gramma Mora's launched their own frozen specialties which can still be purchased today.
In 1996 Gramma Mora's on Niagara Street came to an abrupt end when a fire gutted the restaurant leaving very little behind. The Gramma Mora's sign that hung proudly over the front of the Niagara Street location now crowns the front of our Hertel Avenue location which was established in 1999.
